Stephen and Meghan Field live with their newborn daughter, Grace. We recently got to sit down with them to learn more about their decision to move to Green Park.

How did you find out about Green Park?

    • S: We were getting ready to put our house up on the market and had seen some information out there, but never really looked into Green Park. As things started happening and the road was put in, and saw houses going up, we liked what we saw and made a decision to move forward.

What about Green Park drew you in and lead you to choose a home here?

    • S: The word that would describe what I thought about Green Park is curiosity. I always knew that someday this plot of land was going to be developed and when I heard about the concept of a green home, I wanted to know what that really meant.

Do you feel like you sacrificed anything by having a green home? What do you like best about the green features?

    • M: No, not at all.
    • S: The money saving aspects: the solar panel system and being able to see how that has saved us down to the penny is a big deal. The ability to be environmentally friendly while saving on our energy costs is a win-win. And now we know we’re also not sacrificing anything in comfort or luxury!

What are some of your favorite features of the house?

    • S: Our last place was very segregated. All the rooms were separate and we wanted the next home to be open, open, open. With the great room, you really can’t get more open. The fact that you have the open layout with the very tall ceilings is awesome.
    • M: I really like how the development is starting to look. All the home styles together and the semi-permeable pavers in each driveway and on the community streets is really nice.

What items did you customize in your home?

    • S: We added the fireplace. That was a must. We also added some customizations to the cabinetry including a lazy suzan.
    • M: We added extra electrical outlets and the overhang to our island counters. We also upgraded from the standard granite counters to marble countertops.
    • S: It’s really awesome that each home is customizable and not cookie cutter. I think the ability to have input is a great selling point for the home.

How was the process of buying the home?

    • M: It was fairly simple. Paul is really approachable and easy to work with.
    • S: I thought it was going to be more complex and stressful, but it wasn’t. Definitely user-friendly.

What do you like about living in Grover Beach?

    • S: Being from the central coast in general, but the 5 cities area specifically we love the area.
    • M: It’s great for families. Close to the beach and the schools are really good. We’re super close to many parks which is something that was really important to us in finding a new home.
    • S: This particular area we’re in has newer homes surrounding and the overall feeling is really nice. It’s a stable, clean, family-friendly area.

What would you say is your favorite thing about the home?

    • S: The great room. I hate feeling contained and even before you walk inside you are approached with a nice tall door into a great hallway and then the great room, which is just awesome.
    • M: I love the soft close cabinets. That’s probably my favorite thing. Grace loves the ceiling fan!
